Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Adams)

Dorothy Elizabeth Hughes aged 96 fell to sleep peacefully with family by her side in Vernon on December 23, 2004. Dorothy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by sons Gerry (Margarite) Hughes and Patrick (Judy) Hughes all of Vernon, grandchildren Mitch (Carol) of Delta; Colleen of Castlegar; Casey of Vernon and great grandson Cory of Delta. Predeceased by her husband Clarence (Jiggs) and son Douglas.
Dorothy leaves behind many bridge partners, fellow fisherwomen, friends and her extended family of Mexican daughters and many additional sons. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel with her companion Helen. She rode camels in Alexandria at age 70. Whether playing bridge on the riverbank or on a cruise ship Dorothy loved the challenge of a great hand. She was very independent and moved to Vernon at the age of 88 to be closer to family after more than 60 years in Mission. Strong-minded and determined Dorothy spoke her mind and her heart. Her spirit will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30th at 10:00 at Hatzic Cemetery with a tea to follow at the Mission Lawn Bowling Club, 7560 Hurd St., Mission from 11:00 ˆ 12:30.
