Doris Ida Vosburgh passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Mission, BC at the age of 87.
After attending public school in Matsqui, Doris graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing in 1940 and was commissioned by the Canadian Army on June 6, 1943 as Lt. Nursing sister. She served in the Canadian Medical Corps in England, France and Germany. Upon her discharge, she attended McGill University to receive her Certificate of Public Health Nursing. She served as a Public Health Nurse in several BC towns and retired as supervisor in Maple Ridge. She enjoyed her retirement years in Mission by golfing in the summer and curling in the winter.
Doris was predeceased by infant sister Violet; brothers Robert and Walter; sister-in-law Lois; niece Barbara; nephew Steven. She is survived by brother Jim; sisters-in-law Lilian and June; nephews Brian (Lee), Bradley (Theresa), John, Thomas (Dolores) and Joseph (Quinn); niece Laurie (Wayne) Sissons; and their families. She will be long remembered by her many relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at
2:30 pm at Hatzic Cemetery, Mission, BC. Doris was an active donor to many charities therefore in lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
