Doreen May RAMSAY (NEE ELIASON)

March 2, 2005

1932 - 2005

Better known as the “Singing Lady”, passed away on March 2, 2005.

Doreen was born in Prince Albert, Sask. and raised in Rosetown, Sask. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and a friend to all. She will be remembered dearly by her devoted husband of 52 years, Robin.

Mom will be deeply missed by her children: Kristine (Mike), Scott (Colleen), and Michelle; and her seven grandchildren: Jason, Jerod (Bobbi), Jeremy, Jacklyn (Chris), Jessica, Tyler, and Alex. Doreen will be fondly remembered by her mother Helen and sister Janice (Leo).

Doreen started in Girl Guides in the early 1960s and continued up to the present time. During that time she was able to take three groups of girls to the Guiding World Centre in Mexico. She was also able to visit all four Guiding World Centres. Her love for her “girls”, as she would say, was her inspiration. She was very active, as nothing seemed too much to try. She could climb mountains, brave the rapids, challenge voices, teach young campers and guide the Guiders. She would take your hand and lead … not from in front, nor from behind, but by your side.

Doreen was also an active member in the Sorority Beta Sigma Phi (Alpha Theta Master Chapter) and an avid bridge player.

A service of thanksgiving to Doreen Ramsay will be held Friday, March 11, 2:00 pm at

St. Dunstan’s Anglican Church, 3025 - 264th St., Aldergrove.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be gratefully appreciated.
