DESMOND BROWNE

Born in his Mom and Dad's bedroom on the Browne Homestead on Nicomen Island September 7th, 1918 and passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital on July 16th, 2009. Predeceased by his two children Esther and Edward and brothers Ashley and Bill. Survived by his wife Laurie and best friend of 60 years, who misses him very much; daughters Shirley (Ray), Liz (Guy), Jackie (Stuart); sons Ken (Brenda), Gerald (Michelle), Daryl (Lisa); grandsons James, Scott, Jeremy, Tyler, Luke, Nicholas, Chris B, Jeff, Chris O, Colby and Brandon, granddaughters Heidi, Bobbi, Lisa, Terri, Patricia, Taylor, Madisyn, Jenna, Jessica, Ada, and Elizabeth, great grandsons Parker and Conner, and great granddaughters Gracie and Kailey. Also survived by his brother Stan. Dad's working life was farming on the homestead his parents started in the early 1900s on Nicomen Island. Dad was great for telling lots of stories and he always had an article for you to read. Dad would say to all "keep your thumbs up and your fingers down, nothing to fret, nothing to frown". Viewing will be Thursday July 23rd 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, 7386 Horne Street, Mission. Funeral, Friday, July 24th at 11:00am at St. Andrews United Church, 7756 Grand Street, Mission with burial at Hatzic Cemetery, and a reception following the burial back at the Church.
