Deborah Iris Bracewell


Deborah Iris Bracewell of Abbotsford, surrounded by her family, passed away on Sunday, March 19th, 2017 at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, BC. Born in Montreal in 1953 to Gerald and Iris Rideout, Debbie married Carl in 1973. The young couple relocated to British Columbia soon after to raise a family of four children; Abigail, Amos, Andrew & Amanda. Once all four children were in school full time, Debbie began a decade long career in Early Childhood Education practicing her compassionate gift at the New Beginnings Program for teen moms and their children, then situated at Abbotsford Senior Secondary. Following that sojourn she retrained at Fraser Valley University to become a Nursing Unit Clerk and was soon hired at Menno Home where she worked up until her diagnosis of uterine cancer in 2014. Debbie is survived by her mother Iris, her brother Stephen, her loving husband of 43 years Carl, four children and eight (soon to be nine) grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ross Road Community Church in Abbotsford on Friday, March 31st. Donations in memory of Debbie may be made online at: bccancer.bc.ca/donate.
