David Douglas (Doug)


Our beloved Dad, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather passed away on May 21st, 2010. Doug (Duckie) quietly took the hand of the angels Terry (April 2004) Brian (October 2006) Lorne (October 2002) to start his new life with the Lord. We the family, were with him and sent him on his way to eternal life with much love. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary Kearns, ex- wife Ruth, sons Terry, Brian, sister Irene (Gordon) Pascuzzo, Lorene (Allan) McGillivray, brother Jack, Jack's first wife Flo, Jack's 2nd wife (Dolly), nephew Lornie (Pal). Doug is survived by his son David (Colleen) grandchildren Jeffery (Chelsea) & Spencer (Renee); great grandchildren Alysha, Ebony, Natiya and Christian. Daughter Shelley, daughter-in-law Barb and grandchildren Collin, Katelynn and Nicholas, daughter-in-law Colleen Dahl, grandchildren Barbie, Billy and great grandchildren Chad, Chelci & Christopher, sister Dorothy Foote, brother Fred (Shirley). Doug was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on Oct. 28th, 1927. He moved to Moose Jaw to work in the Trucking Business (Kearns Transport) with his brother Jack. He then moved to Regina and started his own Trucking Co. With the help of brother Fred (Deruth Transport) Jack and Doug both sold and Doug moved to BC and bought the Bay Motor Hotel in White Rock. In later years Doug worked as a Longshoreman until his retirement when he settled in Abbotsford until his passing. The family would like to thank the Abbotsford Hospital and all the doctors and nurses who attended to him. He received the best care possible and was treated with respect and dignity. Special thanks to Dr. Cooper ~ you are a very special lady. A service celebrating his life will be held on Sat., June 5th 2010 at 2 o'clock at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd Abbotsford, Tea to follow.
