BRUHN; Christa

January 3, 1935 ~ June 17, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christa Bruhn. She battled cancer for a number of years and finally lost the fight. Christa was predeceased by Guenther, her husband of 56 years, who passed away in 2013. In 2002 Christa gave Guenther one of her kidneys which allowed them many more years of camping and travelling in Canada and abroad. Christa was born in Schubin, Germany and is survived by 6 of her 9 siblings and their cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends in Germany. She is also survived by Guenther's brother Ernie Bruhn and his family in BC, Alberta and Mexico and by cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends in Canada. Christa resided in Winnipeg, Maple Ridge and Abbotsford with her husband, and has lived the last two years in Langley in the Retirement Home Langley Gardens, where she took part in many activities and made many friends. In the last two months before her passing she was cared for by the compassionate, dedicated doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at Holmberg House Hospice in Abbotsford. Christa was a very special person with a thoughtful and generous heart and she will be greatly missed by all. There will be no funeral by request. If so desired contributions in memory of Christa may be made to the Abbotsford Hospice Society.
