t is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Bob ``Dutch'' VanderVeen. Born in The Hague, Holland in 1948. Bob came to Canada with his family at the age of six. He grew up in Richmond, where he made many of the friends he remained connected to until the time of his death. Bob married Lynda in 1971 and together they raised their family, moving from BC to Saskatchewan and Alberta, and eventually settling in Abbotsford. He worked for many years as a CGA and later in life as a CFP, after initiating the running of Spikes Pet Foods with his wife and kids. His beautiful singing voice and love of music was known to all, and was demonstrated in his early years with various music groups, and later in life with the Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir. After a long battle in the ICU at St. Paul's Hospital, Bob died peacefully in Vancouver on June 6, 2008.

Known for his tact, his incredible sense of humour, and his loving loyalty to his family and friends. Bob was treasured, cherished and will be sorely missed by many. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Lynda; his daughters Corrie (Peter) and Ria (Rhodri), daughter-in-law Amanda, and granddaughters, Paisley and Aivry, as well as by his brother Hank. He was predeceased by his parents Sjoerd and Riek VanderVeen, his brother Herm, and his son, Rob.
