BEVERLEY MAE WRIGHT

April 27, 2004

Beverley "Bev" Mae Wright (nee Marshall) late of Abbotsford passed away on April 27, 2004 at the age of 69 at MSA Hospital.

Bev was born on May 6th, 1934 in Prince Rupert, BC and lived in various BC locations, including Saltspring, Galiano, Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley. She graduated from Langley High School and went into nurses training at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. Shortly after receiving her RN, she married Alan on February 6, 1956 and immediately moved to Toronto.

She worked at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and when Alan got transferred to Belleville, ON she worked at the Belleville Hospital. Then Alan got transferred to Calgary and she worked at Holy Cross Hospital and a clinic in downtown Calgary. In 1963 the family moved to Grande Prairie, AB and she went to work at the G.P. Hospital and then the Backus & Stojan Clinic. Upon moving to Abbotsford in 1975, she worked as an RN at the Regional Psychiatric Centre until retiring in 1985.

Bev loved being a nurse. She also loved all animals, birds, nature and would not harm a fly. (Except slugs - she would use a can of Al's beer to entice them into the can then she would take them to another area and dump them). She loved gardening, growing things and collecting rocks. She also loved to read, do embroidery, cross-stitch, crafts and darn socks and most of all she loved to cook. She was a most compassionate, kind and caring person and never had a bad word for anyone.

Although deeply religious, she would not push her religious feelings but simply try to be a good Christian human being at all times. She has always been active in the Church and since 1975 a staunch member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and in particular, it's Ladies Guild. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting and teaching crafts, until she got too tired to participate any longer.

She is survived by her husband Alan of 48 years, and their two sons, Dave and Don, along with four grandchildren Terah, Kelly, Jenna and Aimee. Her mother, May Chomechko of Abbotsford, her sister Terri Cherer of New Westminster and her brother Steve Marshall of Kelowna. Also many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed but will be forever lovingly remembered in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Hatzic Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service and reception at 3:00 p.m. at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin Crescent East. Abbotsford, with Rev. J.H. (Hans) Kouwenbert officiating.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Association.
