April 2, 1925 - September 26, 2020
Betty (Enns) Klassen was born on April 2, 1925 to Cornelius and Elizabeth (Kornelson) Enns in the Molotschna Mennonite Colony of South Russia, in the area known today as the Ukraine.
When she was 6 months old, the family emigrated to Canada settling first in Coaldale, Alberta and eventually moving to a property on Clearbrook Road, now part of the Abbotsford Airport.
Betty got to know and love Herman (HC) Klassen through the South Abbotsford MB Church Youth Group and they were married on August 12, 1945. The two of them enjoyed 43 years on a dairy farm on 264th Street in Aldergrove. Betty was widowed at age 63 and moved to Abbotsford to spend 11 years living with her daughter, 13 years at Green Gables condominium, and her last 5 years at Tabor Court.
Mom died in her sleep at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital on September 26th, 2020 at the age of 95.
All who knew Betty loved her; many experienced the way in which she gave her full attention to whomever she was with. She loved people and was wonderfully curious and supportive of others, especially her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. To keep in touch with all of them she learned to use an iPad at age 88, so that she could follow their comings and goings through Instagram and Facebook.
She was predeceased by her son Gerald, husband Herman and daughter Joyce.
She is survived by her children: son-in-law John Klassen, daughter Linda (Patrick) Brown, daughter Marilyn (Ron) Isaak, son David Klassen (Debbie), 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 1 surrogate grandchild and 2 great-great grandchildren.
