Knapp, Bernadette Marie

Bernadette Marie Knapp nee Yargeau born in Zenon Park Saskatchewan March 21, 1927 passed away May 23, 2010 in her home in Mission, B.C. at the age of 83.

Bernadette moved with her family to Maillardville B.C.in 1945 where she met the love of her life Alphonse (Alf) Knapp. They were married in 1949. Alf always had farming in his blood so in 1953 they moved to Port Coquitlam on a farm raising, as well as cattle, two beautiful children, Bob and Lorraine. Bernadette was amazing how she could work hard on the farm, garden, keep house and at the same time looking perfectly groomed and beautiful. In 1972 Alf and her moved to Osoyoos for a short stint of retirement before they bought the Long Horn Hotel in Grand Forks. Besides working in the hotel Bernadette was an agent of the Greyhound bus depot which was located in their hotel.

In 1983 the call of farming returned to Alf and she was back to farming at his side until he pasted away in 1996. Seven years after Alf's passing Bernadette moved to Mission to be closer to her son Bob where she spent her last years. Bernadette was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, sister and loved dearly by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Bob (Karen) Knapp, Lorraine (Fernando) Rodrigues, grandchildren Chris, Julie (Matt) Zyda, Cory (Alannah) Knapp, Janine (Will) Isaak, and Rick (Claudia) Rodrigues; great grandchildren Brooklyn and Jacob Zyda; sister Armande and brother Clement and sister-in-law Renee. She was predeceased by her parents Henri and Eva, brother Armand and sister Therese.
