Anthony E. FARMER

August 2, 2005

Anthony E., age 84, passed away on August 2, 2005. He was born January 22, 1921 in Sumas, Washington the son of Frank and Rose Farmer. Anthony grew up with “one foot on the border”; living in Huntingdon, B.C., and attending school in Washington. He graduated from Nooksack High School in 1939 and joined the Army Air Corp. He also was an alumnus of Syracuse University. While serving in the armed forces he met and married Helen Farmer; they were united in marriage in Shanghai, China on February 23, 1947 and celebrated 55 years of marriage until her passing in January of 2003.

After Anthony’s retirement from

the Air Force they made their home in Everson, WA. The Farmers moved to Sumas when Anthony went to work for U.S. Customs. He retired from U.S. Customs in 1983 and served the city of Sumas as a council member for many years. He also served as Lt. Governor of Kiwanis International Matsqui, Sumas, Abbotsford chapter.

Anthony is survived by his two daughters and son, Anna Rose Rutledge of Campbell, CA, Alla Miller of Sumas, WA and Anthony Charles Farmer of Sumas, WA, four grandchildren, Mark Sova, Mara Collins, Anthony Alexis Farmer, and Lisa Martinskis; and four great grandchildren, Erin Sova, Nickolas Sova, Ian Collins and Kathryn Collins.

Memorial Services were held Monday, August 8 at St. Innocent Church, located at 7461 Goodwin Rd. Everson, WA at 1:00 pm Following the service all were welcome to participate in the celebration of his life at the Sumas Legion 134 Harrison Ave., Sumas.
