Anna SCHROEDER

Anna was born on March 7, 1907 to Heinrich and Aganetha Falk in Steinfeld, Ukraine and passed into the presence of the Lord at the Menno Home on February 24, 2007, just days short of her 100th birthday. Anna was predeceased by her husband , Peter C. Schroeder, in 1993, her parents, Brothers Henry, Jake, and Dave, son-in-law Jake Rempel, grand-daughter Mary Anne Rempel and one great grand-daughter. She is survived by her children Anita (Ed) Klassen, Shirley (George) Warkentin, Peter (Elinor) Schroeder, Dorothy (Peter) Enns, Joan Rempel, and Ramona (George) Falk; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben and George; sisters –in-law Helen Falk and Agnes Falk and a host of nephews and nieces. Anna immigrated to Canada in 1926 with her parents and five brothers, settling in Manitoba until the family moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1934. She worked as a housekeeper for many years, first in Winnipeg and then in Vancouver until 1945. On February 10, 1946, she married Peter Schroeder, a Peace River, Alberta, farmer and widower with five children. They relocated the family to B.C. in October, 1946, purchased a 40 acre farm in Aldergrove and, with hard work and perseverance, developed a successful mixed farm operation. In 1968 they retired to Clearbrook, residing first on Peardonville Road and then at Evergreen Village. A special thank-you to Dr. John Chan and the staff of the Menno Home for their excellent care while Anna was a resident there since December 1999. A viewing will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd. on Friday March 2 from 7:00 to 8:30pm. Burial at the Maclure Rd Cemetery on Saturday, March 3 at 10:30am. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ross Road Community Church, 3160 Ross Rd (at Fraser Hwy.) Saturday March 3 at 2:00pm. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Fraser Valley Gleaners Society.
