RATZLAFF; Alice

b. July 6, 1956, Abbotsford, BC

d. November 6, 2016, Abbotsford, BC

The Ratzlaff family mourns the passing of our youngest sibling, Alice, who died Sunday afternoon, November 6 at age 60, after suffering several strokes in recent weeks and enduring many health challenges in the past few years. Alice grew up in British Columbia and Winnipeg, where she attended Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute. She pursued cello studies in Winnipeg and Toronto, where she attended the Royal Conservatory Orchestra Training Program, before making a career-changing decision to study law at Queen’s University. As a lawyer, Alice devoted much of her career to working with legal aid clients, especially in reuniting families with their children in the Abbotsford area. Alice is predeceased by her parents Eric and Lydia Ratzlaff, and leaves behind her two sons, Dylan and Julian Wagar, four brothers, Richard (Elfrieda), Frank (Julie), Heinz (Edith) and Leonard, as well as sister Trudy Galpin (David), and a large extended family and many friends and colleagues in the Lower Mainland legal community. Rest in peace, dear sister; we miss your love for life, your laugh, your intelligence and your generous spirit.

A private family memorial will take place at a future date. Donations in memory of Alice can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Tributes and condolences may be left at:
