Alice Odella LAIRD

October 15, 2007

1913 –2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Alice passed away very peacefully after a lengthy time of ill health, to be with her Lord in Heaven whom she served her whole life.

Alice was the 7th child of 14 born to Martin and Alma Carlson in Landa, North Dakota. Alice immigrated to a farm in Saskatchewan with her family where she later met and married George Kenneth Laird in Cedar Hills. They moved west to Prince Rupert in 1937 with two children and had two more while there. When Ken retired in 1967 they moved south to Kamloops and later on to Abbotsford BC. Alice was very active in the church. She was the Superintendent of Sunday school in Prince Rupert for 15 years. She was known to be very hospitable, compassionate, caring and loving to all that she knew.

Alice will be deeply missed by her children Dale Laird, Dorothy Miller, and Jim (Dianne) Laird. She also leaves behind 2 sisters, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren (1 in waiting) and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth (1994), son Alan Laird (2006), granddaughter Sherilee Miller (1998), son-in-law Tom Miller (1998) and daughter-in-law Winnie Laird (2005).

We also wish to express our sincere thanks to all the staff of Inglewood Manor and recently the Menno Home where Alice spent her last few years.

A grave side service will be held in Abbotsford at the Hazelwood Cemetery on Hazelwood Ave. on October 27, 2007 at 12:30 pm, followed by a memorial service at the Pentecostal Church, 3145 Gladwin Avenue at 2:00 pm. lead by The Reverend John Coughlan.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to World Vision.
