Walmsly Lake in Albert Dyck Park may re-open for swimming today.

Locals hoping to go for a dip in Walmsley Lake this weekend, after it was closed last weekend, will likely be in luck.

The beach in Albert Dyck Park has been closed to swimmers for over a week due to the detection of elevated levels of E. coli.

According to City of Abbotsford spokesperson Rhonda Livingstone a test done last Friday detected "levels below the threshold for E. coli contamination but Fraser Health requires five days of low levels to reopen for public swimming and wading."

The city is waiting for results from tests done yesterday and today, before making the call to allow swimming once more.
