Police were called to Cedar Park Plaza on Wednesday afternoon for reports of an attempted purse-snatching.

An attempted purse-snatching this afternoon (Wednesday) in Abbotsford resulted in the victim suffering a minor knife cut to her hand.

The incident took place at about 12:40 p.m., when a man attempted to grab a purse from a woman in the Cedar Park Plaza at Clearbrook Road and South Fraser Way.

The thief was holding a knife and, when a struggle ensued, the victim – a woman in her 50s – was cut.

Bystanders who saw the incident yelled at the man, who dropped the knife and ran from the scene without the woman’s purse.

Witnesses were then able to direct police to a nearby residence on Minter Street where the culprit had gone.

The man was arrested and now faces charges related to the incident.
