A semi truck hauling wood chips overturned Wednesday night along Highway 11 in Abbotsford, spilling its load across the southbound lanes of traffic.

The incident took place just after 7 p.m.

Abbotsford Police Const. Paul Walker said the truck from the Kamloops area was travelling along the Sumas Way bypass toward Highway 11 (the Abbotsford-Misson Highway) when there was apparently a mechanical failure.

The driver took the right-hand turn, to head north towards Mission, too quickly, and the truck flipped onto its left side, spilling the wood chips onto the opposite lanes.

No one was injured, and traffic was blocked while the scene was cleared.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement was called to the scene to investigate.
