A driver allegedly involved in a collision in Chilliwack was arrested tonight (Tuesday) in Abbotsford after a brief struggle with police.

The incident began at about 7:30 p.m., when Chilliwack RCMP were notified that a hit-and-run had occurred in the traffic circle on Evans Road. The vehicle was seen fleeing towards Abbotsford.

At about 8 p.m., Abbotsford Police bike patrol members spotted the suspect vehicle – a black Nissan Titan truck – pulling into the Tim Hortons parking lot on Abbotsford Way.

When the driver – a 55-year-old Chilliwack man – got out of the vehicle, he immediately began fighting with officers.

Back-up soon arrived, and the man was taken into custody. At one point, he could be heard saying, “This was fun, and next time bring more!”

The incident is still under investigation and it is not yet known whether any charges will be laid.
