Snow falls on Abbotsford on Sunday afternoon.

The snow came a few days too late for Abbotsford residents, with the white stuff covering the Fraser Valley on Sunday afternoon.

A frontal system crossing the South Coast brought rain and wet snow to the Fraser Valley today. Snow stuck at higher elevations locally, and turned to rain and slush in lower lying areas into the later afternoon.

Environment Canada estimated about five cenitmetres of snow landed over portions of the Fraser Valley during the afternoon.

Conditions are expected to improve as this system exits the region this evening. There is expected to be wet snow mixed with rain tonight, and a low of zero. Cloudy conditions are expected for most of Monday, with much of the snow likely to melt away.
