An Abbotsford man has received a 16.5-month jail sentence for a stabbing that occurred last summer.

Seyed Milad Mirhosseini, 32, recently pleaded guilty and was sentenced in Abbotsford provincial court, where he also received a lifetime firearms ban and two years’ probation.

Mirhosseini was charged with aggravated assault following the incident on the afternoon of Aug. 29. On that day, police were called to the 32700 block of George Ferguson Way, where a man had entered a business and was bleeding from his stomach.

The man told police he had been stabbed during a parking-lot altercation with Mirhosseini, whom he knew. He was airlifted to hospital, where he recovered from his injuries.

Mirhosseini was arrested about three hours after the incident.
