The Abbotsford Police Department has released this composite sketch of the suspect in a recent sexual assault.

Abbotsford Police have received a few tips on the possible identity of the man involved in a sexual assault last month on Discovery Trail, but none have led to an arrest.

Const. Ian MacDonald said investigators are hoping to receive more leads that could help them track down the suspect. No further similar incidents have been reported, he said.

The assault took place Saturday, March 22 at about 5 p.m., when a 57-year-old woman was walking on Discovery Trail in the 3600 block of Clearbrook Road.

A man who had pulled down his pants tried to grab the woman, but she got away when he hit him with her umbrella. She ran to safety and called police while standing with a group of citizens.

The suspect was seen leaving the area in a white vehicle with a licence plate containing the numbers "784."

The man is described as Caucasian, in his late 30s, with a slim build and about six feet tall. He was wearing white pants and a black hoodie.

MacDonald said police do not believe this is the same suspect involved in a sexual assault that occurred Dec. 12 in the 2400 block of Gladwin Road, adjacent to Mill Lake Park.

In that incident, a man attempted to expose himself to a 29-year-old woman who was walking in the area, and then threw her to the ground.

The woman was able to get away and call police from a nearby apartment building.

The suspect in that incident is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, 5' 6" to 5' 8", with medium-toned skin, a mustache, and medium-length hair to his jawline.

Anyone with information on either of the incidents is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225, text abbypd (222973) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
