Police investigating attempted robbery of teen girl at knifepoint

Abbotsford Police are investigating a report of an attempted robbery at knifepoint that occurred in the neighbourhood of Auguston.

The incident took place last Thursday (Jan. 4) at about 7 p.m.

Sgt. Casey Vinet said a 17-year-old girl was walking near the corner of Blauson Boulevard and Auguston Parkway when a man emerged from the bushes, threatened her with a knife, and demanded money.

Another man, who was walking nearby with his dog, noticed what was happening and interrupted the robbery, Vinet said.

The suspect fled on foot, and the victim was not seriously injured.

The male culprit was wearing dark clothing and had a slender build.

Vinet said police would like to identify and speak with the man who intervened.
