Members of the community gather to read the objectives outlined by the Mayor's task force on economic prosperity.

Nine objectives outlined by the mayor's task force on economic prosperity were presented at a public consultation Wednesday evening.

The consultation was held to give members of the community a chance to ask questions about the objectives, which include supporting agriculture, attracting new businesses and encouraging innovation.

The task force has created a draft of an economic development strategy and action plan that will likely go to council March 4.

Jay Teichroeb, manager of economic development, said the event was held to allow community engagement on the key points outlined by the task force.

"There is no shortage of opinions on how to improve prosperity... people are talking about what's important to them."

Tina Stewart, executive director of the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association, attended the event to learn about the objectives. She said she is interested in seeing the draft of the economic strategy when it is reviewed by the city.

"We definitely want to be a part of those discussions."
