SARA for Women Society will be one of six charities to receive $10,000 from Canada Life as part of the company’s season donations.

Typically, the nearly 3,000 Canada Life employees choose a single charity for a donation, but with 2020 being the year it is, the company has decided to expand their charitable gifts this season.

“The needs in our communities this year are unique, and so was our approach,” said Jeff Macoun, president and COO.

“Registered charities are working harder than ever to support Canadians, but we recognize that they’re seeing less financial support because of the pandemic. That’s why we increased our donation amount to $60,000 this year and split it between six charities from coast to coast – to make an even bigger impact.”

SARA for Women Society helps support women and children experiencing domestic violence. The organization will be using the donation to provide people arriving at their safehouse with outerwear, clothing and household necessities as they get set up in a new home.
