Nicholas Sonier is missing.

Posters are being distributed around Langley and on the internet as family and friends intensified the search Saturday for a missing Langley man.

Nicolas Sonier was last seen Monday, Aug. 12.

Sonier did not go to work on Tuesday or Wednesday, something that is out of character for him, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

Consequently, on Wednesday local police issued a plea to the public for help locating the 32-year-old Langley man.

While police issued a plea, and friends and family did a number of initial searches for the man this week, the hunt broadened in scope on Saturday.

There is a map online showing areas that have already been search. And, the map is being updated regularly and already includes many streets in Langley, as well as Aldergrove, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack, as well as a few of his favourite haunts through the backwoods of Mission and out east to Harrison.

More areas will be added to the map soon, the website stated.

Described as an avid outdoorsman, the family has also reached out to hiking and fishing groups, hunting and canoe groups, four-wheelers, and trail organizations.

They’ve also reached out to safety and community awareness Facebook pages specific to Aldergrove, and verified Sonier doesn’t have his passport and hasn’t reported travelling on the BC Ferries to Vancouver Island.

Sonier is described as a Caucasian man, with blue eyes, dark brown hair, and full beard. He stands about six feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds.

He drives a 1996 blue Toyota 4Runner with roof rack, licence plate number HM8 26X.

Anyone with information about him is asked to contact the non-emergency line of the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or visit the website: findnicksonier.com.
