One person was taken into custody after a car was driven through a decorative cinder-block wall outside an Abbotsford home Thursday afternoon.

A black sedan plowed through the wall outside a Jackson Street home around 1 p.m.

Police were called to the scene and detained a 29-year-old man. He’s under investigation for impaired driving.

Jaspreet Gill was visiting her parents when the car rammed through the wall her parents had just finished building the previous month. The family saw the man running up the street on foot after the crash.

Peter Van Mill was doing renovations outside his home when he heard the crash and also watched the man flee the scene.

“Stuff like this doesn’t happen happen in our neighbourhood.”
