Paramedics and other emergency crews responded Monday to the scene of an ATV accident that claimed the life of a 67-year-old man.

An ATV crash on a Mount Lehman property Monday afternoon claimed the life of a 67-year-old man and injured his five-year-old grandson.

The pair were riding an ATV on a property in the 29500 block of Taylor Road just before 1 p.m. when the vehicle rolled over, according to Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald.

“Both of them struck their heads, the grandfather more severely,” MacDonald said.

Although an air ambulance was called to the scene, the grandfather was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m., before it arrived.

The boy suffered a laceration to his head and was taken to hospital, where it was confirmed he hadn’t suffered any more serious injuries.

The name of the victim has not been released.
