Man in freeway crash in Abbotsford has died

The 61-year-old man from Kamloops lost consciousness while driving on Highway 1 near No. 2 Road on Saturday afternoon.

A 61-year-old Kamloops man who lost consciousness while driving on Highway 1 in Abbotsford on Saturday afternoon has been pronounced dead.

The man, driving a 2003 Toyota Camry, was driving west at No. 2 Road at about 12:15 p.m. when he became unresponsive. The vehicle left the highway from the slow lane, went into the ditch, and returned to the highway, rolling onto its roof.

The man's wife received minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

The coroner's office and Fraser Valley Traffic Services are investigating the incident.

The name of the deceased man has not been released, pending further investigation.
