Westbound traffic on Highway 1 was at a crawl Wednesday morning following an earlier accident near the Yale Road West overpass.
A semi trailer unit apparently lost a load of granite on the highway just after 7 a.m.
Police, ambulance and firefighters were on the scene, but there have been no reports of injuries.
One lane was opened by 9 a.m. and by 10 a.m. crews were just preparing to open the second westbound lane.
Chilliwack firefighters were hosing down the road prevent rock shards from puncturing tires.
