Leaders brave the cold for a night in support of Vancouver homeless youth

Covenant House hosted its annual Sleep Out Thursday night.

Local business leaders spent a night out in the cold Thursday to help raise money for homeless youth in Vancouver.

Covenant House, an organization that helps homeless youth off the streets, hosted its annual Sleep Out across 18 cities worldwide, with more than 1,000 participants.

In Vancouver, 49 participants camped out in sleeping bags on a concrete floor, including The Bachelorette’s Kaitlyn Bristowe and Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi.

In total, the group raised $615,370 for the organization’s crisis program, which serves as many as 1,000 homeless and at-risk youth on Vancouver’s streets on any given night.

Lead fundraisers were Joseph Richard’s Group chef Matt Stowe and CEO Ryan Moreno, who raised just more than $35,000.
