Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is looking to recruit more foster parents for kittens, as spring approaches with an annual boom of abandoned cats.
"Kitten season is around the corner, so we are preparing for the inevitable need," said Sarah Jones, LAPS executive director.
"We want to ensure those interested in supporting these extra vulnerable animals get the training they need, so when a litter comes in we are ready with our foster families."
LAPS provides all the supplies needed to the foster family such as food, litter, and medical care.
"For those that cannot foster but still want to help, they can donate supplies to support the cats and kittens while they are in foster care," noted Shelley Joaquin, manager of animal welfare.
Training is also offered, and there are two online scheduled dates in March:
- March 1 at 10 a.m.
- March 6 at 6:30 p.m.
People can register online at lapsbc.ca/foster.
In the last year, LAPS has been well over its capacity with animal intake, seeing more than 100 last summer.
