The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is looking into an incident where a suspect who fled from police was bitten by a police dog in Mission.
According to the IIO, on Feb. 4 shortly after midnight, an adult male fled a police traffic stop. The man was later seen abandoning his vehicle and leaving on foot. About 20 minutes later, an IIO press release states the man was found and taken into custody with help from a police dog.
During the arrest, the man was bitten by the RCMP dog and had to go to hospital.
