A heavy police presence, including an armoured vehicle, was on the scene this afternoon (Thursday) on Braun Avenue, at the building across from where Clarence Crothers was found killed on Tuesday morning.
Witnesses report that numerous police vehicles and officers arrived on scene at about noon.
One woman said police had guns pointed towards the third floor of the complex, while others entered the building.
They left the scene less than 30 minutes after they arrived, and it is not known if anyone was taken into custody.
When asked whether the incident was related to the investigation into Crothers’ death, Cpl. Meghan Foster with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said she could provide no updates.
Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird said she could not comment on the situation because the investigation into Crothers’ death has been transitioned to IHIT.
Crothers, 62, was found dead in his suite Tuesday morning in the Lynnhaven Society’s McMath apartment building.
IHIT soon took conduct of the investigation and confirmed that Crothers’ death was a homicide. His cause of death has not been released, and police say they are trying to establish a motive for the killing.
The building across the street is also owned by Lynnhaven Society, which opened two affordable-housing complexes in Braun Avenue three years ago.
