Firefighters moved quickly Wednesday morning to extinguish a small fire in a patch of trees between Riverside Road and railroad tracks.
The fire broke out just after 11 a.m. and quickly sent smoke billowing out over the surrounding area. While an early report had flames extending into the trees, the blaze – which took place just north of Marshall Road, down an embankment but above the nearby railroad tracks – was snuffed out soon after it was first reported.
The remains of a small homeless camp were visible nearby
