A 78-year-old male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle yesterday morning in Abbotsford died from his injuries not long afterwards.

The collision took place just before 10 a.m. in the intersection of South Fraser Way and Hill Tout Street.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the pedestrian was in the crosswalk at the time, and was struck by a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am.

He said the female driver of that vehicle and her passengers remained on scene and have co-operated with the investigation.

MacDonald said the collision took place at low speed, but the man’s condition deteriorated quickly after he was transported from the scene. He was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.

“We offer our condolences to the family and friends of this man,” MacDonald said.
