A car dealership whose salesman was in the backseat of a vehicle stopped for excessive speeding on Monday in Abbotsford has had similar situations happen in the past, according to police.
Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the dealership has had an "inordinate amount" of instances in which potential buyers have been speeding during test drives.
The latest incident took place at about 4 p.m. on Monday, when a speed trap was set up on Downes Road near Murphy Street (east of Gladwin Road), not far from Cornerstone Christian School.
The speed limit is 50 km/h in that stretch, but a vehicle travelling through the area was clocked at 94 km/h as it approached the school zone, MacDonald said.
The female driver, whose male companion was in the passenger seat, was given a ticket for excessive speeding.
The vehicle owned by the car dealership was impounded for seven days.
"I don't think the test drive went as planned," MacDonald said.
He said police spoke with the dealership about the speeding issues.
