Abbotford Police collision reconstructionists were at South Fraser Way and Countess Street on Tuesday afternoon following a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening following a collision on Tuesday afternoon in Abbotsford.

The crash took place at about 2 p.m. on South Fraser Way near Countess Street.

Const. Paul Walker said early reports indicate that the 22-year-old motorcyclist was heading west on South Fraser Way when a 72-year-old man driving an eastbound Ford Explorer attempted to make a left turn off of South Fraser onto Countess.

Walker said the motorcyclist crashed into the back end of the SUV, resulting in him becoming airborne and crashing to the ground.

He said police are continuing to investigate the collision, and no tickets have been issued at this time.

Meanwhile, westbound lanes of South Fraser Way between Clearbrook Road and Centennial Street are expected to be closed until about 6 p.m. while collision reconstructionists are on the scene.
