The City of Abbotsford is seeking public input for a new cycling project that will pick up where the Salton Road Bridge project left off at Marshall Road.

The new “all ages and abilities” connection will install a neighbourhood bikeway between Salton Road and Montrose Avenue, then enhance the existing bike lanes on Bevan Avenue/Peardonville Road to Parkview Street.

The Salton Road pedestrian and cycling bridge opened in January 2019 and saw more than 12,000 crossings in its first year. At a recent council meeting, staff indicated that the bridge had recorded 14,000 users in June 2021 alone.

Cycling features under consideration at the conceptual stage are:

• intersection push-buttons

• green conflict marking

• enhanced lighting

• bike stencils and wayfinding signage

• a cycling amenity station

Public input can be made online at letstalkabbotsford.ca.
