Charges laid in fatal hit-and-run

Mission Mounties have laid charges in the fatal hit and run which killed a 65-year-old pedestrian last December.

A 25-year-old Mission resident, Justin Brown, was charged May 30 with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

According to police reports, Elinor Clark was walking with her husband on the north shoulder of 14 Avenue near Caribou Street around 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2, 2012 when she was struck by a vehicle.

Police located the suspect vehicle an hour later not far from the accident scene and identified a person of interest shortly afterward. Brown was arrested three days later in an unrelated break and enter incident.

Mounties wrapped up their investigation into Clark’s death on May 30.

Brown is currently in custody and a bail hearing is scheduled for June 12.
