Abbotsford Police have released this sketch of a suspect in a carjacking and break-in on Dec. 21.

Police believe that a man wanted for a carjacking in Abbotsford is living in Burnaby or East Vancouver.

Abbotsford Police released a composite sketch of the suspect last week, hoping to gather more leads on his whereabouts.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the sketch, as well as evidence gathered since the Dec. 21st carjacking, have helped police narrow down the man's potential community, although they have not yet confirmed his identity.

Police were called to a break-in at a home in the 30000 block of Nicholson Road in north Abbotsford at about 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21.

When officers arrived, the suspect fled in a pickup – later determined to be stolen from Burnaby – and struck a police vehicle parked at the end of the driveway before fleeing south on Mt. Lehman Rd.

Minutes later, police deployed a spike belt, but the pickup continued  south and was then involved in a crash with another vehicle at Mt. Lehman Road and Cardinal Avenue.

The suspect produced a handgun, forcing a woman out of her Toyota Corolla before fleeing in it westbound on Highway 1.

The Corolla was later found in Burnaby.

MacDonald said the composite sketch, and other evidence that has since been uncovered, possibly link the suspect to crimes – such as break-ins and thefts – in other communities.

The man is Caucasian and in his 20s or 30s. Anyone with information is asked to the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
