Abbotsford Police issue almost 40 suspensions during CounterAttack roadblocks

Abbotsford Police have issued the results of their recent CounterAttack blitz.

Abbotsford Police issued almost 40 driving suspensions and prohibitions during its fall CounterAttack blitz.

Roadblocks were set up over one weekend in October, one weekend in November, and four weekends in December.

During that period, police issued 20 24-hour suspensions for drugs, eight 24-hour suspensions for alcohol, four three-day driving prohibitions, four 30-day driving prohibitions, and one 90-day ban.

Const. Ian MacDonald said police also criminally charged two motorists with impaired driving and five others with various criminal charges, such as driving while prohibited.

In addition, 10 vehicles were impounded and 118 tickets were issued for infractions such as vehicle deficiencies and not wearing a seatbelt.
