Abbotsford-Mission housing starts rise again in July

Developers continue to look to meet the surging demand for new homes

Housing starts climbed in Abbotsford again in July.

The number of new housing starts in Abbotsford-Mission climbed again in July, as developers looked to meet the surging demand for new homes.

Construction started on 86 new homes in July, up from 69 last year. Those include 52 single-family homes and 24 multi-family units.

The number of housing starts in 2016 is now double that of a year ago. The region has seen 751 new housing starts so far this year, up from 339 at this point in 2015. Of the new starts, 438 are multi-family units and 313 are single -family houses.

Across B.C., housing increased the past month, with 43,143 starts in July of 2016.
