Voting day is May 9.

Several all-candidates meetings have been scheduled for later this month to give voters a chance to hear from candidates in each of the three local ridings.

Candidates in the Abbotsford West riding will go first, on April 25. So far, the NDP’s Preet Rai, BC Liberal incumbent Mike de Jong, the Green Party’s Kevin Eastwood and the Christian Heritage Party’s Lynn Simcox have declared their candidacy for the riding.

Two days later, on April 27, Abbotsford South candidates will have their chance to woo voters. Incumbent Darryl Plecas faces the Green Party’s Aird Flavelle, the NDP’s Jasleen Arora, and the Christian Heritage party’s Ron Gray in the riding.

Both those meetings will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium.

A week later, and just five days before voting day, Abbotsford-Mission candidates will meet. Green Jennifer Holmes faces incumbent Simon Gibson, the NDP’s Andrew Christie, and the Christian Heritage Party’s Dan Cameron in the riding. The meeting takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Creekside Centre, at 35131 Straiton Road.

The events are presented by the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board and the Fraser Valley Indo-Canadian Business Association and open to the public.

The Abbotsford Self Advocate Group is also hosting a meeting, on April 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Matsqui Recreation Centre’s Seniors room. Those attending will be able to ask questions and learn about where members stand on issues of interest to people with disabilities.
