Fire damages vacant gas station in Abbotsford

A fire caused extensive damage to the old Rise and Shine gas station and convenience store at 33590 King Rd. in Abbotsford on Saturday.

Crews were called to the blaze in the uninhabited building at about 11 p.m.

When they arrived, smoke and flames were coming through the roof. Crews quickly brought the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is under investigation by Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and the Abbotsford Police Department.

The building, located at the corner of King and McCallum roads, has been closed since 2012 and is slated for demolition.
