Abbotsford Police track down pilfered pit bull puppies
Five pit bull puppies were returned to their Abbotsford owners early this morning (Saturday) after they had been stolen from their property.
Abbotsford Police were called just after 1 a.m. from the occupants of a residence on a rural property in the Bradner Road area.
Const. Ian MacDonald said the occupants, who raise pit bull puppies, noticed that their secure barn had been broken into and five of their seven puppies had been taken.
They told an investigator that there were several people who had contacted them through online ads and expressed interest in purchasing the dogs.
MacDonald said police chased down one of those leads and came upon four suspects and the puppies in a vehicle about an hour later in central Abbotsford.
The unharmed puppies were returned to the owners.
“It’s a happy-ending story,” MacDonald said.
The four suspects – all boys ages 14, 16 and two 18-year-olds – were arrested and now face potential break-and-enter charges, MacDonald said.
