Abbotsford man charged with stabbing
A 24-year-old Abbotsford man has been charged in connection with the stabbing on Blackham Drive on Monday morning.
Troy Alexander Perrin has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and abduction in relation to the incident. Perrin has also been charged with six counts of breaching court-ordered conditions that included a no-contact order with the victim and not to possess any weapons.
He and the victim had been in a previous relationship, according to police.
Police received a 911 call at about 9 a.m. April 14 from a residence in the 2700 block of Blackham Drive at Baldwin Road.
The 23-year-old female caller said she had been stabbed and her 18-month-old baby had been taken by the father of the child.
Abbotsford Police Department spokesman Const. Ian MacDonald said police were about to issue an amber alert for the missing child, when officers located the suspect, with the unharmed baby, at 9:40 a.m. in the backyard of a home on Marcliffe Place, not far from the stabbing.
The victim was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and is still recovering in hospital.
Perrin is next scheduled to appear in Abbotsford provincial court on May 14. He has prior convictions for assault, assault causing bodily harm and breaching his probation, according to the provincial court database.
He also has charges still before the courts from December 2013 for assault and assault causing bodily harm.
