A 19-year-old man suffered a broken ankle after he was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon in Abbotsford.

The incident took place at about 2:45 p.m. on George Ferguson Way near Babich Street.

Abbotsford Police Const. Paul Walker said the man and a woman were walking along the sidewalk on the north side of George Ferguson Way when they got into an argument.

The man turned and proceeded to run across the road, but he failed to look for traffic first. He was struck by a Volvo SUV heading west.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance for the treatment of minor injuries.
