Abbotsford and Mission mayors make car-wash bet
Mayor Bruce Banman said when it comes time for Mission's mayor to wash one of his cars, he'll pick whichever one is dirtiest.
Mayor Ted Adlem issued Banman a friendly challenge in support of the my Health my Community survey launched by Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health and the eHealth Strategy Office. Whichever mayors' community has the lowest percentage of respondents to an online survey will wash the other's car.
“If the city of Abbotsford can encourage more people to participate in the survey… I will personally wash and wax Mayor Banman’s car,” said Adlem. “And I propose that if Mission wins this challenge, Mayor Banman will come across the river and wash my truck.”
Banman took the challenge and is encouraging community members to participate, and become more aware of their health habits.
As a chiropractor, Banman said he a few simple health changes can add length and quality to people's lives, and added that preventative measures are are a cost-effective way of improving health.
"Win or lose, it's a great win for the community… I hope the citizens of this community fill out the survey."
