A former Abbotsford man who police say has links to several different gangs has been charged with drug offences in  Kelowna.

Matthew Schrader, 38, and his girlfriend Janay Pratt, 23, were arrested Feb. 9 following a search of Schrader's high-end apartment in the 1300 block of Ellis Street in Kelowna.

Police seized 33 grams of crack cocaine, three grams of heroin, a bottle of suspected methadone, 11 cellphones and drug paraphernalia.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development has been notified about a 15-year-old boy who was also living in the home.

Schrader and Pratt have each been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

They have been released under strict conditions and are scheduled to appear in Kelowna provincial court on April 15.

Const. Kris Clark, spokesperson for the Kelowna RCMP, said in a press release that Schrader has "well documented links to several different organized crime groups."

In December 2010, Schrader was charged with five counts, including weapons offences and possession for the purpose of trafficking, after a raid of his home. Police seized drug paraphernalia, a .45-calibre semi-automatic pistol and ammunition, cocaine, $7,000 cash, body armour and a nylon gun holster.

All the charges were later stayed in court.
